Warm Weather Shipping & Handling Policies
Warm Weather Delivery
HERSHEY'S Chocolate needs special handling during the months of April through September, or when the weather is warm where your order is being shipped. To assure that your chocolate gifts arrive without melting, all chocolate shipments during April through September require "Warm Weather - Express Air" Shipping & Handling Charges (See chart).
These "Warm Weather" charges may also be needed at other times of the year when the weather is warm.
Ordering Cutoff Deadlines
If you wish to specify a date for delivery (e.g. a birthday or anniversary) please use "Express Air" delivery to guarantee arrival for requested delivery date.
April through September
Weekday Shipping & Handling Information: Orders for "Now" delivery placed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday by Midnight ET will ship the following day.
Weekend Shipping & Handling Information: Because temperatures vary across the country, we do not ship over the weekend in order to guarantee premium quality upon arrival. For this reason, all orders submitted after Midnight ET on Wednesday through Midnight ET Sunday will ship the following Monday.
October through March
Weekday Shipping & Handling Information: Orders for "Now" delivery placed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday by Midnight ET will ship the following day.
Weekend Shipping & Handling Information: All orders submitted after Midnight ET on Thursday through Midnight ET Sunday will ship the following Monday.

Q. Why do I have to pay sales tax on items and on shipping & handling?
A. Hershey is required by law to collect and pay sales tax to all states that have a sales tax on gifts. This also applies to Shipping & Handling Charges.
Q. May my business or charity be given a state sales tax exemption?
A. Yes, we may grant tax exemption if you have a valid state sales tax exemption certificate. Please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-454-7737. We will review your situation. If an exemption is granted, you will be required to send us the appropriate documentation before the order is processed.
Q. What if I have special shipping & handling requirements or need to make my own arrangements for my large order?
A. We may be able to accommodate your special shipping & handling request. To place your order, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-454-7737. They are available Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. They are closed on Sunday.
Q. Why can't I ship to a P.O. Box?
A. A P.O. Box is located in a post office and they won't accept deliveries directly from most carriers.
Q. Do you ship orders outside the USA, Internationally?
A. We deliver to all 50 States. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico require Express Delivery charges. Please call 1-800-454-7737.
Q. When will my credit card be charged?
A. Your credit card is charged only after your order has shipped, and only for the items which shipped. If a partial shipment has been made, the full cost of shipping will be charged on the first shipment. On subsequent shipments, you will only be billed for the items which shipped at that time.
Q. Can I purchase empty tins, jars, etc.?
A. We are unable to sell empty tins, jars, etc. However, our catalog is filled with a wide array of items designed to meet your gift giving needs.
Q. Can I get a tin or jar filled with a different type of candy than is pictured in the catalog?
A. To ensure orders are shipped as quickly and efficiently as possible, we are unable to accommodate requests for items other than those featured in our catalog and HersheyGifts.com.
Q. What is the expected shelf life of a product? Should I keep chocolate in the refrigerator?
A. Chocolate should be kept in a cool, dry place preferably below 72° F, but not in the refrigerator. It will last up to 6 months if stored under these conditions.
